Barcarolle

A barcarole (from French, also barcarolle; originally, Italian barcarola) 

is a folk song sung by Venetian gondoliers, or a piece of music composed in that style.

Chopin,

Offenbach,

Rachmaninov,

Gaubert,

Koechlin,

even Pat Metheny.

I love these waltz like pieces 

that can,

with their rocking motion,

be like lullabies.

Faure 

wrote 13 of them

and these often dreamy pieces 

take me back to another time. 

It is a very attractive place.
